As a member of the Indiana National Guard, Kayla Nier spent one year in Iraq and out of her experiences grew an appreciation for the people of Iraq and a desire to help both the Iraqi and Afghan families affected by war.
During her deployment Kayla witnessed firsthand the needs of the people of Iraq. She also learned that creating opportunities for positive interaction between Iraqis and the troops would further promote relationships with the troops and the people of Iraq and ultimately pave the way for a more successful partnership toward peace. In exchange for the various items of need that the troops have to offer, the local community has been known to inform the troops of weapon cache locations and also the location of the enemy combatants.
